We Don’t Just Say It — We Back It.
At Soma Rings, supporting health isn’t just about steps, heart rate, or tracking. It’s about community. It’s about backing the people who inspire us to push harder, show up, and stay consistent. That’s why we proudly support athletes in Barbados through our Brand Champions program. Each athlete you see here is more than just a face, they’re part of our culture. And when you use their unique coupon code at checkout, a portion of your purchase goes directly to them. It’s our way of investing in the people who represent Barbados, and giving you the power to do the same.

Jacob Burke
Professional Surfer | Surf Teacher
Hi, I’m Jacob Burke. I am from the beautiful island of Barbados. Luckily, Barbados has world-class waves so I’ve spent most of my life in the water—surfing has always been a way of life in my family.
My dad was both a competitive surfer and a teacher, and naturally, I followed in his footsteps, developing a deep love for both competing and coaching.
I founded The Barbados Surf Club to teach and mentor others who want to learn the sport. Through the club, I’ve also launched a local surf championship that’s all about community—creating a fun, welcoming environment that encourages youth to start competing and grow through the experience.
Right now, I’m training with my sights set on the 2028 Olympics, pushing myself every day to reach that goal. I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who’s supporting me on this journey.

Josh Burke
Professional Surfer | Surf Teacher
Surfing runs in my blood. I’m Josh Burke, and I carry on a family tradition from the shores of Barbados to the world.
I’ve been riding waves since I was three years old, growing up in a family that lives and breathes surf culture. My dad, Alan Burke, was a national and international champion, and he’s been running Burkie’s Surf School since before I could walk. That’s where it all started for me.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to represent Barbados on the world stage, from Japan and France to Australia, Panama, and beyond. I’ve surfed some of the most legendary waves, including Teahupo’o in Tahiti, and competed in events like the Volcom Pipe Pro in Hawaii and the WSL Qualifying Series. One of my proudest moments was finishing third in the WSL North American Rankings.
My favourite spot to surf will always be the Soup Bowl in Bathsheba. It’s where I’ve pushed myself the most and grown into the surfer I am today.
But for me, it’s not just about competing. I’m passionate about giving back, inspiring the next generation and building up Barbados as a global surf destination. That’s why I helped bring the Barbados Surf Pro to life in 2017, bringing over 150 international surfers and 80,000 viewers to our shores.
When I’m not in the water, you’ll find me in my kitchen garden, playing badminton with my brother Jacob, or chilling at my favourite local spot, Stoutee’s in Chancery Lane. And yes — I do love winding down at Burke’s Beach (a beach named after my family) in St. Michael, a place that means everything to me and my family.
Surfing is who I am, but Barbados is home — and I’m proud to carry both wherever I go.
I play as much sports as possible and the Soma Ring technology is a great way to see a difference of energy use in a variety of sports.
The sleep tracking is honestly my favourite part about it and has made me more discipline in terms of getting appropriate hours of sleep, as that can be the most important part of being an athlete. Love representing my island, so it’s amazing that Soma Rings is a Barbadian brand.

Tarryn Alleyne
Hi my name is Tarryn Alleyne.I am a 17 year old skateboarder from Bridgetown Barbados,I started skateboarding at the age of nine years old and every since then my love and obsession for skating has grown alot. I would say I am very dedicated to skating because I skate almost everyday with the intention to progress and learn new tricks which is what I admire most because it teaches me to be patient and to never give up because no matter how long a trick takes,as long as you are hardworking and you put in the time u will get it eventually. One of my biggest achievements was being able to win the one movement invitational skate contest twice back to back in 2023 and 2024 which is considered the biggest skateboard competition in the Caribbean so I am very proud of myself to have that title.
